Le Cannet is a quiet suburb of Cannes popular with residents and for holiday villas and second homes. It is leafy, still partly agricultural, with lovely walks and views and overlooks Cannes from the surrounding hillsides. As such the centre of the City and the beaches are never more than 15 minutes away. There is a vibrant and historic Old Town of Le Cannet with a central square (Place Bellevue) surrounded by largely undiscovered and unspoilt fine French restaurants, quaint shops and narrow streets. Le Cannet existed above the reed beds, swamps and malaria that were once endemic to the coastline where Cannes is today, so it has a great deal of character and history, but is right off the tourist map!
